COVID-19 Health & Safety Procedures
1. Any staff member or student exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms must remain home
• symptoms include, but are not limited to, fever/chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing,
fatigue,
muscle/body aches, headache, new loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion/runny nose,
nausea/vomiting, diarrhea
• all parents are asked to perform a daily self-check of their children before sending them to school
2. Directors will take temperature of all staff members prior to entry into the school building
• per ISBE and CDC guidance students with temperatures 100.4* F or greater will be sent home
3. No family members will be permitted to enter the school building during drop off and pick up
4. There will be assigned doorways entries for specific grades/levels to minimize student interaction
5. Teachers will welcome students at assigned doorways and take their temperature
• students will be dismissed in an orderly manner and exit through the same doors they entered
6. Any staff or students showing any signs of COVID-19 will not be permitted to enter the building
• they must self-quarantine and show evidence through a negative COVID-19 test prior to returning,
• or, must complete 10 calendar days of isolation from the date of first symptom onset and be fever-free for 24 hours
and other symptoms have improved prior to returning
7. Anyone showing COVID-19 symptoms after entering the school building will be immediately isolated
• arrangements made for immediate pick-up
8. Directors and staff will communicate with families and provide regular updates through email
9. Students will visit hand sanitizer stations for disinfection upon entering the school building
10. No more than three students will be allowed in the restroom at the same time
11. Staff members will be required to wear face masks at all times
12. Students will be required to wear face masks at all times
13. Staff members will sanitize the tables and supplies when possible during class time as needed
14. Students will remain in a single classroom for the entire length of the school day
• teachers will switch from classroom to classroom as needed during the school day
• teachers will sanitize teacher desks/workstations prior leaving for a different classroom
• teachers will wash/sanitize hands prior to entering a different classroom
15. No large gatherings will be allowed per State of Illinois regulations
• there will be no in-person Greek School programs, assemblies, or other large gatherings
16. Dance classes will be temporarily suspended, at least through the end of 2020
17. Class sizes will take into consideration State of Illinois social distancing guidelines
• classrooms will be configured to provide for recommended social distancing to the extent possible
• all student desks/workstations will face the same direction
• classroom floors will be marked to reflect where desks/workstations must be placed
18. Hallway markings will be provided to ensure proper spacing among the students
19. Snack time will only be permitted for the pre-school and kindergarten grades.
20. Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, as there will be no usage of water fountains
21. Classrooms will be sanitized before and/or after use in preparation for next use
22. Families and staff are asked to report any possible COVID-19 cases to the School
23. If staff or students are confirmed for (or probable case of) COVID-19, the following steps will be taken:
• temporary school closure to conduct cleaning & disinfecting of areas impacted by exposure to COVID-19
• identification and notification of individuals who were within six feet for 15 minutes or longer
• placing in quarantine for 14 days students & staff identified as having prolonged close contact
• ongoing monitoring of students & staff for COVID-19 symptoms to identify possible outbreaks
24. No unauthorized individuals, including Church service attendees, will be permitted in classroom areas
• hallway doors will be secured during School sessions to prevent entry into classroom areas
25. If family member/guardian is arriving late for pickup
• student will remain in their assigned classroom until the family/guardian arrives
Health & Safety Procedures are subject to change based on new information & updates to existing State of Illinois/CDC guidance
